Vintage (1982) 9ct Gold Gem Set Acrostic 'REGARDS' Ring
This unusual vintage acrostic ring is made of fully hallmarked 9ct yellow gold and dates from 1982. The ring is set with a ruby, emerald, garnet, amethyst, ruby, diamond (CZ) and sapphire. The initial letters of each gemstone spell out the word ‘REGARDS’. The addition of the end sapphire (S) makes this an unusual version of the usual ‘Regard’ ring. There is decorative carved scrolling detail to the top and bottom sides of the gemstone setting. This ring makes a statement when worn on its own, but would also stack well with other rings. The gemstones are all natural, apart from the ‘diamond’, which is a cubic zirconia.
The ring is a UK size M and a half / between a US size 6 - 6.5
The ring has a height of 3.5mm. The gemstones themselves measure approximately 2.5mm diameter.
The inside of the ring shank is stamped with a crown and ‘375’ for 9ct gold. There are also hallmarks showing that the ring was made in Birmingham in 1982.
This vintage ring is 43 years old and is in very good condition for its age, showing just light signs of age / general wear. The gemstones are all in very good condition; on close inspection it can be seen that there is a tiny fleabite sized nick to the end ruby, but apart from this there is no damage or wear to any of the gemstones.
