Rare Antique Georgian Gem Set 'REGARD' Watch Key

£189.00
sold out

This rare and collectable antique watch key dates from around 1820 - 1840. The watch key is set all the way around with colourful paste stones which imitate Ruby, Emerald, Garnet, Amethyst, Ruby and Diamond, the initial letters of which spell out the word ‘REGARD’. The central hexagonal section moves around independently of the top part and the square ‘key’ at the base retains its shape (the key is presumably in working order as a watch key, but has not been tested). This watch key is gold cased.

The watch key measures 2.4cms height including the top suspension ring and it weighs 1.4g

There are no hallmarks; the watch key has been professionally tested and is gold cased.

This watch key is around 200 years old and is in good condition for its age, showing just light signs of age / general wear. Under magnification two of the stones show light surface abrasion. One stone has a slither chip to the top surface.
