Decorative Antique Victorian 9ct Gold Locket Pendant
This antique locket pendant dates from the Victorian era and is made of 9ct yellow gold ‘back and front’. The locket has beautiful, decorative, foliate engraving detail on each side - there is a different design on each side. The locket opens to reveal two locket compartments which are both empty.
The locket is of the 9ct gold ‘back and front’ variety which means that the front and back engraved panels are 9ct gold but the frame is a gold coloured metal (which improves the lockets’ strength and durability).
The locket measures 2.4cms height (including the integral bale but excluding the top suspension ring) and it weighs 2.6g
This locket is around 150 years old. The locket has no dents and is still wearable / usable; it opens easily and closes securely with a click. The locket shows some signs of age and general wear. There is a very small section of gold missing from the top tip of the locket on one side. The integral bale has worn thin at the top and there is a possibly a historic repair at the join of the bale / locket. The top suspension ring has not been soldered closed. The locket is priced to reflect its pre-loved condition.
