Beautiful Edwardian Silver, Pearl, Enamel & Marcasite Brooch in Original Case
This beautiful and elegant antique brooch dates from the Edwarian era and is made of silver. The brooch front is enamelled in blue, with a central blister pearl and marcasites arranged in a leaf design around. The brooch is offered for sale in its original case from the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company (London).
The brooch itself measures 2.1cms x 7.1cms and it weighs 5.3g
As is sometimes the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks, but the brooch has been professionally tested and is made of silver.
This brooch is over 100 years old and is in very good condition for its age, showing just light signs of age / general wear. The enamelling is in very good condition with a glossy finish and just a very small slither chip to one corner visible to the naked eye (a couple of extremely minor fleabite nibbles to a couple of other corners visible under magnification). There are no missing marcasites. The pearl is lustrous and naturally uneven in shape. The brooch’s pin is in secure working order. The reverse of the brooch shows light signs of age / general wear. The case is in very good condition on the outside as is the cream satin lined interior. The turquoise velvet shows indentation marks where the brooch has been sitting. The case open easily and closes securely with a click.
