sold out

This lovely and decorative antique locket pendant / charm is made of fully hallmarked 9ct rose gold and dates from 1901. The locket features ornate engraved scrolling detail on the front and foliate detail on the reverse. There is a ‘swag’ on the front of the locket, where initials could be engraved and the reverse bears the full hallmark. Inside there are two locket compartments - one has a cardboard backing and one has fabric and both retain their inner securing rings to hold a photo in place.

The locket measures 2.2cms height (including the bale but excluding the top ring) x 1.5cms maximum width. The locket weighs 1.8g

The reverse of the locket is stamped ‘9’ and ‘375’ for 9ct gold, along with hallmarks showing that it was made in Birmingham in 1900. There is also a maker’s mark. The suspension ring is also stamped ‘9 375’

This antique locket is 124 years old and is in good condition for its age, showing light signs of age / general wear. There is a light, superficial, ‘crease’ to the swag on the front of the locket, but aside from this there are no dents and no damage. The locket opens easily and closes securely with a click.
