Antique Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold Double Locket Pendant
This beautiful antique locket dates from around 1900 - 1910 and is made of 9ct rose gold. The locket features decorative scrolling engraved flower and leaf detail on both sides and there is a small blank cartouche on the front where initials could be engraved. This locket is offered for sale in very good condition with no dents or damage and with all internal fittings present and intact: the original backing fabric, inner securing rings and two protective glass covers. The locket has a facetted 9ct gold bale and is ready to hang on a chain. This locket is of the 9ct gold ‘back and front’ variety, which means that the front and back covers are made of 9ct gold and the inner rings and frame are made of a gold coloured metal (which improves the locket’s strength and durability).
The locket measures 2.3cms diameter and weighs 5.4g
As is sometimes the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks, but the locket has been professionally tested and is made of 9ct gold ‘back and front’.
This locket is over 100 years old and is in very good condition for its age, with no dents or damage and showing just very light signs of age / general wear. The locket opens easily and closes with a click; the locket closes securely but there is a hairline gap between the two halves when it is closed. The inner locket components are all present: two glass covers, inner securing rings and fabric backing to each compartment.
