Antique Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold and Paste Heart Locket Pendant

£87.00
sold out

This pretty and decorative antique locket pendant dates from the Edwardian era and is made of 9ct rose gold. The front of the locket is set with blue and clear paste stones, arranged in a star and crescent design. The locket opens to reveal two locket compartments which could house photos, a lock of hair etc. The locket is of the 9ct gold ‘back and front’ variety, which means that the front and back panels of the locket are made of 9ct gold and the inner securing rings and frame are made of a gold coloured metal (which improves the locket’s strength and durability). Please excuse the camera reflection in some of the photos.

The locket measures 2.5cms height (including the integral bale but excluding the top suspension ring) and it weighs 4.1g

As is sometimes the case with jewellery of this age and type there are no hallmarks, but the locket has been professionally tested and is made of 9ct gold ‘back and front’ (see above for detail).

This antique locket is in good condition for its age, showing just light signs of age / general wear. The inside of the locket has one blue backing paper and one inner securing ring. Under magnification it can be seen that two of the clear paste stones are chipped, but this is not obvious to the naked eye. The top bale shows some thinning at the top.
