Antique Edwardian 9ct Gold Watch Key With Heart Terminal
This sweet and sentimental antique watch key is made of 9ct yellow gold, with a steel lining to the cylindrical part (this is usual for watch keys as the steel improves strength and durability). The terminal is in the form of a heart, which is plain on both sides. By design, the top part of the watch key turns around independently (to assist the winding action).
The watch key measures 3.3cms length, including the end ring. It weighs 1.3g
As is often the case with items of this age and type there are no hallmarks. The watch key has been professionally tested and is made of 9ct gold, with a steel lining to the cylindrical part.
This antique watch key shows light signs of wear in the form of a few pit marks to the heart (both sides) and a small, light, dent to the cylindrical part. I have no means of testing the key to see if it still winds, but I can see no obvious reason why it wouldn’t still work as intended. Please see all photos.
