This stunning antique pendant dates from the Georgian era and bears an inscription for 1835. The pendant mount and bale are gold cased and the mount features very ornate carved foliate detail. The pendant is set with a genuine, natural, facetted amethyst in a vibrant mid purple shade. The reverse of the pendant bears the following inscription, which suggests that this pendant may originally have been a mourning / memorial item: ‘Mrs Mary Perkins Obt 16th May 1835’

The pendant has a length / height of 4.3cms height (including the bale). The amethyst itself, excluding the gold cased frame, measures 2.2cms x 1.7cms.

The pendant has a weight of 9.0g

This antique pendant is around 190 years old. The front is in very good condition, showing just very light signs of age / general wear. The amethyst is in very good condition on both sides with crisp facets and showing just very light signs of age / general wear. The reverse of the pendant shows wear to the reverse of the gold mount - please see the photo for full detail. The amethyst is very secure in the mount and the bale is in very good condition.
